Perkins V requires CTE programs to serve and report on special populations. Broad access isn't optional — it's built into CTE's mandate, and into CodeHS.

  • Works on the devices you already have. Browser-based with no downloads required, so the pathway runs on Chromebooks and shared computers, including in rural and low-income districts.

  • Built for true beginners. No prerequisites and scaffolded curriculum, so the pathway welcomes students who don't already see themselves as "computer people."

  • Spanish-language and ELL support. Courses are available in Spanish for blended classrooms, and students can view a course in their set language.

Can teachers without a computer science background teach CodeHS CTE courses?

Yes. CodeHS is built so a motivated teacher without a CS degree can run a rigorous course. Every course includes lesson plans, video and slide instruction, solution walkthroughs, and auto-grading, backed by professional development, so the program does not depend on hiring a specialist.

We already have some CS or CTE courses. How does CodeHS fit?

CodeHS complements what you already run. It provides a cohesive, vertically-aligned 6-12 sequence you can build around existing courses, support for non-CS teachers, and unified data for accountability and advisory boards, so you can strengthen and connect your program rather than replace it.
