It depends on where the program is headed. If the goal is AP, the Advanced Placement pathway builds from an introductory course up to AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A. For a career and technical education program, Cybersecurity, Web Development, and Game Development map more directly to industry skills. No. Every CodeHS high school pathway opens with an introductory course that assumes no prior programming experience, beginning with problem solving and computational thinking before students write full programs. Yes. CodeHS pathways are recommended sequences, not fixed tracks. Schools can swap courses between pathways, add, remove, and reorder modules and lessons, write their own assignments, or build a sequence from scratch using any course in the CodeHS catalog. Teachers can also adjust the flow for a single section or an individual student.

How do CodeHS high school courses prepare students for the AP exams?

CodeHS is a College Board endorsed provider for both AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A, which means the curriculum and professional development are recognized as aligned to the full AP Curriculum Framework, and schools get a pre-approved syllabus for the AP Course Audit. The high school pathways build toward those courses from 9th grade, and the AP courses include built-in exam review and practice.
