UNITS - 12 (36 lessons)

  • Optional Review

This module offers an optional review of foundational ScratchJr programming skills including navigating the interface, events, loops, and message events before 2nd grade content begins.

  • Getting Started

This module builds computational thinking skills by identifying patterns and sequencing steps in a school-day routine.

  • Sequences & Events

This module builds sequencing and event skills using the grid, an interactive tap-a-mole game, and debugging practice.

  • Loops

This module expands loop skills through pattern-following, creating a timer, incorporating peer feedback, and designing algorithms to move characters along a path.

  • Message Events

This module builds on message events to control program flow, model a cycle, navigate between pages, debug errors, and apply the design process.

  • Culmination Projects

This module has students combine coding blocks, events, loops, and messages to build a racing game and a moving targets game.

  • Computing Systems

This module explores how computers work and how networks connect devices to share information.

  • Safety & Responsibility

This module covers digital citizenship topics including digital footprints, cyberbullying, and responsible technology use.

  • Data & Analysis

This module builds data literacy skills through investigative surveys, understanding data storage, and choice-based research projects.

  • Impacts of Computing

This module explores how computing shapes careers like fashion design and how technology changes the way people live, work, and play.

  • AI Exploration

This module introduces AI concepts through examples like AI assistants and AutoDraw's use of a classifier to recognize and suggest drawings.

  • Preparing for Next Year

This module prepares students for 3rd grade by transitioning them to the CodeHop block editor and introducing variables.
