Alabama Digital Literacy and Computer Science 9-12 Grades course introduces students to computational thinking, data, and computing systems while building the digital skills needed for college and their careers.

Cybersecurity and You
Students explore data privacy, online trust, cyber ethics, and basic security practices to identify and avoid common threats. |

Computing Systems
Students compare and contrast common operating systems, investigate application and account security, and use both basic and advanced command-line tools to manage authentication and authorization. |

IT Concepts
Students explore internet and network design, plus how protocols affect communication, security, and privacy. |

Project: IT Professional
In this project, students will explore the troubleshooting methodology and utilize it to solve sample IT support issues. |

Python Fundamentals
Students learn the basics of programming by writing programs that interact with users through the keyboard. |
|
Data Structures and Algorithms
Students apply prior concepts to implement core data structures (lists, tuples, and dictionaries) and classic algorithms such as linear and binary search. |

Project: Software Development
In this module, students will learn and use the software development life cycle to create a simple app that will solve an everyday problem. |

The Data Science Life Cycle
Students will learn and apply the process of the data science life cycle. This includes asking statistical questions, collecting or obtaining reliable raw data, analyzing the data, and summarizing the results. |

Project: Data Dashboard
Students learn the basics of data dashboards by using Google Sheets to gather, prepare, and visualize data, then design a custom dashboard on a theme of their choice to explore a topic of personal interest. |

Intro to AI and Machine Learning
In this module, students will gain an understanding of the main concepts and vocabulary around AI. |
|
Risks of AI
Students will explore the ethical implications and risks of AI technology, including bias, hallucinations, security, misinformation, and legal challenges. Students will engage in a debate about AI and create their own AI policies. |

Careers
Students will explore the changing landscape of work in the age of AI. |
