The Computer Science Explorations 2 course is an introductory course for late middle school students. Students learn the basics of programming with Karel the Dog and learn how to code within the context of art and game design. Students also explore how the internet works and how to make web pages with HTML and CSS.

Students learn the basics of programming by giving Karel the Dog commands in a grid world.
Students are introduced to network protocols and different strategies used to protect online information.
Students explore HTML and CSS styling as they work to create their homepage.
Students explore the intersection of art and technology by creating art programs using p5.js.
Students learn the basics of video game design elements, game mechanics, and sprite and world design.

No. It's designed as an introductory course, though it pairs well as a follow-up to the Computer Science Explorations 1 course.
Students learn JavaScript and HTML & CSS.
Students learn/review loops, conditionals, and functions through Karel, then explore the internet and cybersecurity (protocols, the CIA Triad, encryption, steganography), web design with HTML/CSS, art through code with p5.js (color, animation, shape transformations, mouse/keyboard interaction), and the basics of game design and mechanics. Supplemental modules cover data/spreadsheets and advanced web design.
This course is approximately 50 instructional hours.
