It’s hard to believe, but at one time there were no government regulations to prevent factories from polluting the air and water. No government agencies existed to protect the environment and inspect the impact of various industries on our planet.

The first Earth Day took place in April 1970 because there were no laws, like the Clean Air Act or Clean Water Act, and no government regulators, like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to address pollution and environmental issues.

Earth Day is a chance to bring awareness to environmental issues and needs. It’s a day to take action and help others discover ways they can protect our precious planet.

Your Task

To help bring awareness to environmental protection opportunities in your local area this Earth Day, you’ll plan and create a one-page website. After researching an event, resources, or local issue in your area, you’ll create a web page that helps others take action.

Once you’ve done some research and planned out your web page, you’ll use your HTML and CSS skills to create a one-pager that helps local residents take action and get involved this Earth Day!
