Parsons Problems are now available in the Practice App
In the Practice App, parsons problems are now available for students to work through. Teachers can also add them as extra practice in their courses. Parsons problems are coding exercises where students are given scrambled code snippets that they must reorder and, in some cases, properly indent to form a functional program or code segment. You can identify parsons problems in the Practice App by the icon with a down arrow next to four lines, located to the left of the problem name.
This setting defaults all free response assignments to be teacher-graded
In the Courses app under the Setting tool, teachers can set free-response questions to default to teacher-graded instead of manually changing each one from auto-graded. This feature streamlines grading by creating a uniform grading approach and reducing manual adjustments. This is available to teachers with CodeHS Pro.
The new Remix Tool combines Forking and Alternate Exercises for easy differentiation
When you click the new Remix Tool, you’ll choose between two options: forking an assignment or using an alternate exercise. Forking is available to CodeHS Pro teachers, while alternate exercises are accessible to all teachers. However, not all exercises will have alternate versions. This Remix Tool simplifies the process of creating differentiated versions of assignments for students.
Facilitate your CodeHS Certification Exams from preparation to results.
Easily manage and monitor CodeHS Certification Exams with the updated Certifications app. Explore student exam results and reports, proctor exams in real-time, view your vouchers, and more. The updated Certifications app features 6 tools, which can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the page: Certifications Overview, Results Summary, Topic Summary, Topic Reports, Student Reports, and Proctor Dashboard.
Teachers can now view student grades by Module and by Lesson in the CodeHS Gradebook
In the Gradebook App, you can now view grades by module and by lesson. The Gradebook by Module tool shows a table of all modules, students, and total scores by module. The Lesson tool does the same but is organized by lesson. In both of these tools, you can use the dropdown menus to choose which lessons, modules, and students you want to display. You can also choose how to order these tables- by student, lesson, module, or score. On both the module and lesson gradebook pages, you can click on student scores to view more information about all assignments in a student’s module or lesson. This includes information such as time spent on assignments, submission dates, and scores on individual assignments.
Seamlessly Manage Google Classroom with One Easy-to-Use App
We have created an App to put all Google Classroom tools in one spot.
- From the overview tool in the app, teachers are able to link, sync, and connect to Google Classroom.
- In the Roster tool in the Google Classroom app, you can view your rosters for sections connected to Google Classroom.
- In the Grade Passback tool in the app, you can assign activities, sync grades, and bulk unassign and assign.
- In the settings tool, you can see student credentials, turn on and off grade passback, and disconnect from Google Classroom.
Easily Customize Quizzes by Importing and Editing Questions
Teachers can now combine different quizzes by importing questions from a specific quiz. Teachers can create a new quiz and add questions to the quiz either by creating their own questions or pulling questions from existing CodeHS quizzes. You can then change the order of questions, edit questions, and add more questions to the quiz.
Teachers can now demo the certification testing environment.
Teachers can now explore a demo certification by using the voucher code DEMO, providing them with a firsthand experience of the certification testing environment. This allows teachers to familiarize themselves with the exam setup and verify that students’ accessibility features function properly.
Students now have the ability to import code from one assignment to another.
Students can now import code from one assignment to another, replacing files with the same name and adding any new ones. This feature works even when copy-paste is disabled and logs all imports in the file history for tracking purposes. Additionally, students can restore previous versions if needed, but only they, as the assignment owners, have the ability to import code.
You can now do multi-part assignments in an improved way, where you’re continuing an assignment from a previous assignment and want to start where you left off in the last one.
Teachers can now manage canned responses, both global and assignment-based, in one spot.
Teachers can now manage their canned responses in a centralized location, with options to view, edit, and delete them. Global canned responses are accessible for grading any assignment, while assignment-specific responses are available only for the corresponding assignment. Teachers can create global canned responses or navigate to specific courses and assignments to view, add, and manage canned responses tailored to those assignments.
Global canned responses are a CodeHS Pro feature.
