Artificial Intelligence — An Emerging Career For Future Generations

Announcing the New CodeHS Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Course!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the world and how we interact with it. Although AI was first introduced in the 1950s, the world is just starting to really understand the impact it can have on how we think about data analysis and decision-making. From voice-powered personal assistants like Alexa to self-driving cars, machines are starting to think and act more like humans by using complex programs.

“Artificial intelligence will require the entire workforce to learn new skills, whether it’s to keep up to date with an existing role, or pursuing a new career as a result of automation.” [LinkedIn’s 2020 Emerging Jobs Report]

In LinkedIn’s 2020 Emerging Jobs Report, Artificial Intelligence was ranked #1 with rapidly increasing careers across almost every industry. At CodeHS, we believe it’s time to prepare the next generation on how to use AI while also understanding the social and ethical implications.

Who Is This Course For?

The course will be extremely accessible to all types of classrooms, with 3 versions available: an introductory module, a month long course, and a full semester course.

  • The introductory module can be added to any existing course, or put in supplemental materials, so that teachers can introduce AI topics to students in any class.
  • The month-long course is intended for teachers who are interested in teaching students some of the basics of AI, without spending an entire semester diving into the topic.
  • The full semester course is a deep dive into AI; students will cover a gaming module, learn how to create a chatbot, and how to make predictive models. By the end of the course, students develop a series of projects that illustrate the variety of ways Artificial Intelligence can be used to optimize and predict information and processes.

Course Modules

  • Unit 1: What is Artificial Intelligence?
  • Unit 2: Artificial Intelligence in Gaming
  • Unit 3: Creating Predictive Models
  • Unit 4: AI and Chatbots
