Game Design in Unity

Announcing the New CodeHS Game Design in Unity Course!

undefined

The video game industry is worth over a hundred billion dollars, catering to more than two billion gamers worldwide. Gaming has become its own culture and lifestyle, instead of just something to do in pass-time.

Rather than allowing the future generation to simply be users, we want to prepare them to be producers. Game designers have exciting roles, creating the rules, characters, stories and worlds of a game. The new Game Design in Unity course will give students a taste of how beautifully designed games are created.

Course Overview

The Game Design in Unity course teaches the fundamentals of designing a game using the most widely accessed and preferred editing engine in the world. The intent of this course is to prepare high school students with the industry related skills needed for the workplace and higher learning environments.

The Unity platform is highly preferred within the gaming industry. Using this platform better prepares students for the industry as Unity is proven to be the standard for game design, animation, and even movie creation.

By the end of this course, students will understand the design planning process, be knowledgeable of industry related careers, and be able to navigate the Unity environment in order to create 2D and 3D games! View the full course overview here.

“We’re very excited to provide a game design course using the Unity platform, as this is such a growing subset within the tech industry. This course provides an overarching understanding of the game development process and delves into the history, planning, and theory of game design.” — Ryan Molyneaux, CodeHS Curriculum Developer
