Summer Changes to CodeHS Curriculum

August 23, 2016

Dear Teacher,

We’ve been working this summer to greatly improve the curriculum available on CodeHS. We’ve expanded the courses that are available, and now have a 6–12 computer science pathway. We’ve also made it a lot easier to build your own problems on CodeHS.

We have a great set of new courses that you can see and try out here:https://codehs.com/info/curriculum/pathways/6-12 — from Computing Ideas, to Intro CS in Python and Intro CS in JavaScript, to AP Java and AP CS Principles.

In addition to building new courses, we’ve also developed different versions (or flavors) of each of the courses. Why did we make this change? We know that one size doesn’t fit all and want to make sure all schools using CodeHS can have the course that fits their needs. We have students of all different grade levels and programming experience, and we want to ensure your classroom gets the right version of the course.

These versions differentiate between regular and honors, between blocks and text, and many other variants.

If you are a CodeHS customer, contact your account manager and we’ll make sure you are getting the right course.

In particular, the main Intro to CS in JavaScript course has changed, but all versions from previous years are still available as an option. No student progress will be lost due to any of these changes. There is also an honors version of this course now available.

Stay up to date on all our curriculum improvements on our curriculum blog.

If you have any questions feel free to email us at hello@codehs.com. If you would like to sign up for Pro to build out your computer science pathway or get access to the different course versions we have, contact us through this form.

Thanks, and good luck with the start of school!
