Tell us a little about yourself…

Hello! I am a student pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Rutgers University. I hope to be a software developer in the future. I have been coding since middle school, and I firmly believe that it is a skill that everyone should have. I like to play video games, listen to music, watch anime and play basketball. I especially enjoy playing League of Legends.

When did you first start learning computer science?

I started coding in middle school when I opted to take an Intro to Programming elective. Luckily for me, my school was one of the few schools that offered programming classes at the middle school level. We started with HTML, Scratch, and Visual Basic. I found coding fun, so I continued taking computer science classes even throughout high school.

Do you have any favorite programs or projects that you’ve built?

I worked on a solar calculator app during HackRU. In the app, a user inputs the time of the day, and the efficiency of the panel. The app then uses weather data to predict how much power the solar panel will generate. I am also currently an intern at goaloop.com, a website where you can create goals, track your progress, fund your goal, and so much more!

Fun facts about you?

My favorite genre of music to listen to is rap and hip-hop. My favorite rapper is Kendrick Lamar.

Favorite ice cream flavor?

Green tea. It’s not a very traditional ice cream flavor, but don’t knock it until you try it. I think it is flavorful, and not too sweet.

Words of advice for the next generation of coders?

Coding is a great skill to learn and it will only get more important as computers become more prevalent in society.
