🧠 Start the Year with a Growth Mindset
Coding is full of opportunities for students to see mistakes as steps toward growth. Kick off the year by setting this mindset early with our Growth Mindset lesson plan (part of our Week Zero lesson plans).
Try these quick strategies in your classroom:
- Set small, achievable goals
- Praise effort, not intelligence
- Focus on learning from mistakes
- Encourage collaboration
💻 New: Typing Curriculum
Typing is a self-paced add-on curriculum that makes learning to type both fun and effective. Fully integrated into the CodeHS and CodeHop platforms, it gives students live feedback, lets them earn badges as they improve, and helps them track their progress on words per minute and accuracy.
Teachers can monitor performance in real time, set personalized goals, and support students as they build essential typing skills.
💤 Digital Wellness Tip: Protect Your Zzz’s
Remind students that good sleep is key to focus, creativity, and learning, especially at the start of the school year. Encourage them to set a “tech bedtime” by putting devices away at least 30 minutes before going to sleep. Blue light and late-night scrolling can make it harder to rest, while screen-free routines (like reading or journaling) help them recharge for the next day. Supporting healthy digital habits around sleep can boost energy, mood, and classroom success.
