Introducing: Nevada Computer Science on CodeHS
Julia Carson, Curriculum Developer at CodeHS
Do you teach Computer Science in Nevada?
Recently, all CodeHS courses have been aligned to the Nevada Computer Science standards. Alignment to standards for 6–8 can be found here, and 9–12 alignment can be found here.
CodeHS has also developed a pathway that fully covers Nevada’s Computer Science standards. This pathway includes CodeHS courses such as Introduction to Computer Science in JavaScript and Introduction to Cybersecurity, as well as a new custom course for Nevada.
The Computer Science and Applications course is being developed this summer and will fully align to the Nevada Computer Science Standards included in this half-credit course required for graduation. (See here for more information.) In this course, students learn about computer science and computational thinking using Python and HTML to analyze and design solutions to problems using programming skills. Additional topics include algorithms, documentation, security and privacy, communication and collaboration, and data visualization.
