Hey there, tell us about yourself!

Hi, my name is Morgan Brevard. I am currently attending the University of Madison Wisconsin, majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Game Design.

When did you first start coding?

I started coding my senior year of high school. The class I took was AP Computer Science Principles. What inspired me to continue was the fact that I could create whatever I wanted with code.

My favorite part about learning through CodeHS is how easy and hands on it was. Looking back at my CS career in high school it was a lot more simplistic compared to now. CodeHS made it easy to learn and code the project you were trying to complete. I still sometimes look at my personal website that I made back then!

What CS related courses have you taken in college?

I have taken 6 CS courses so far in college. I think my favorite language so far is Java.

What are your post-college career goals?

I hope to pursue a career in computer science and either work for a well-known company or specifically in the gaming industry. I enjoy playing video games, so I hope to help create them in the future!

Ducky Project is one of Morgan’s original and favorite projects she created on CodeHS.

Do you have any tips to share with other students pursuing CS?

The insight I have is when you get to college, start applying to internships and just get experience with coding. Try out hackathons and get as much experience as you can. It’s sometimes hard to get an internship as a freshman but keep trying and don’t give up.
