This Week in Learn to Code — 10/24/2014
Welcome to “This Week in Learn to Code!” If you’ve already begun to learn, this is a chance to pat yourself on the back for having made a great choice. If you haven’t started yet, now is a great time to start!
1. Learn and teach with games!
This article explores a Minecraft mod developed by a team from University of Texas. The mod aims to help players gain a deeper understanding of Materials Science — a natural extension of the Minecraft platform, which often calls upon players to harvest and combine materials to build tools / tech.
2. Gain valuable skills for any career!
This article from Forbes is about the author’s experience on a panel discussing advice for young people studying economics. The top piece of advice given? Learn to program.
3. Make a robot to do your homework for you!
This article from Wired is about an app called PhotoMath that was released this week. The app takes a picture as input, and then finds the math, solves it and shows it’s work. Pretty cool!
