馃捇 New Middle School Module

The Exploring Web Design 2 module expands on the foundational concepts covered in the Exploring Web Design 1 module. Students learn the basics of web aesthetics and design principles which will allow them to take their web design skills to the next level. The module culminates in a project that will guide them through the web planning process and create a multi-page website.

You can find this new module in the Mix and Match Middle School course and Computer Science Explorations 2 as a supplemental module. Watch this video

馃 Teacher Tool: Collaborate in the Sandbox

In the real world, programming can be a collaborative process where teams of programmers work together on large code bases. Collaborative programming in the classroom fosters problem-solving skills by encouraging students to share ideas, discuss approaches, and learn from each other鈥檚 perspectives.

Use the Real-Time Collaboration feature in the sandbox to give students the opportunity to collaborate on a shared program. With Real-Time Collaboration, students can use the CodeHS Sandbox IDE to work together on the same coding activity live and asynchronously, just like a Google Doc!

Use the Collaborate feature for a small coding exercise that students complete in a single class period or for a larger project that extends across days.

馃摰 Digital Wellness Tip: Practice Tech Breaks

Students spend hours and hours on screens each day. Encourage students to set aside specific times during the day to step away from screens, stretch, and engage in offline activities like reading, drawing, or talking with friends. This helps reduce eye strain, improve focus, and promote a healthier balance between digital and real-world interactions.
