CodeHS Back to School Guide
Welcome back to school! Check out the Back to School Guide to help you get set up and prepared for a year of teaching with CodeHS. I want to specifically highlight the Week Zero Lesson Plans. These lessons are perfect for building a strong classroom culture at the start of the year, and they have been recently updated to include some great middle school lessons. These are some lessons that we recommend:
- [NEW!] Computational Thinking
- Growth Mindset
- [NEW!] Block Coding Instruction
Updated Intro to Programming with Karel (Ace) Course
Over the summer, we released an updated version of Intro to Programming with Karel (Ace)! This course is mostly the same, but it now includes more current programming practices and is better aligned to our JavaScript courses. This will be helpful for those students looking to take a full year JavaScript course in the future.
Here is a quick overview of the changes:
- ES6 updates: Students will use let instead of var in for loops.
- Students will use the main() function instead of the start() function.
- There are some additional debugging and reflection activities to better support students as they are learning to debug their code.
