CodeHS Launches New York State-Aligned Computer Science Courses for Grades 7–12
These courses are fully aligned with the New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards.
About These Courses
New York will be required to only use courses that are aligned to the New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards starting in the 2023–2024 school year, and you can meet the requirements with these CodeHS courses. These courses cover all concepts in the framework including: Impacts of Computing, Computational Thinking, Networks & System Design, Cybersecurity, and Digital Literacy. The framework was designed with the vision that every student will know how to live productively and safely in a technology-dominated world. This includes understanding the essential features of digital technologies, why and how they work, and how to communicate and create using these technologies.
New York Computer Science 7–8
New York Computer Science 7–8 is a JavaScript course that uses 5 of the newly built middle school modules. This middle school course is laid out in 5 modules over an estimated 50–60 hours.
New York Computer Science 9–12
New York Computer Science 9–12 is also a JavaScript course. This high school course is laid out in 11 modules over an estimated 110–120 hours.
