This Week in Learn to Code — 11/21/2014
Welcome to “This Week in Learn to Code!” If you’ve already begun to learn, this is a chance to pat yourself on the back for having made a great choice.
This week, humanity landed a spacecraft on a comet for the first time, ever. After a 10 year chase, Rosetta and Philae landed on 67P / Churyumov–Gerasimenko. What kind of crazy software do you think it takes to control a spacecraft hundred of millions of kilometers away?

2. President Obama thinks you should learn!
President Obama awarded the National Medal of Science and National Medal of Technology and Innovation to several of America’s brightest minds this week. He took the opportunity to share his goal of getting 100,000 new Science, math, engineering, and technology teachers into American classrooms. “We have to continue to broaden opportunities for young scientists, especially girls and minority students, to enter into the field and we have to remind them of how exciting it is to be able to shape the world, unlock its secrets, make new stuff.” We agree!
3. Because it’s almost CS Ed Week!
This year, Computer Science Education Week will be from 12/8 to 12/14. If you haven’t started learning to code just yet, now is a great time to start due to the increased support you’ll find online and all of the cool new learning materials that will be released. Sit down for a couple quick Hour of Code tutorials and get started learning to code!
That’s all for this week! Thanks for tuning in.
