This Week in Learn to Code — 10/10/2013
Welcome to “This Week in Learn to Code!” If you’ve already begun to learn, this is a chance to pat yourself on the back for having made a great choice. If you haven’t started yet, now is a great time to start!

This great article tells us about the new robotics club for the Sealy Independent School District. Robotics is generally an awesome convergence of coding and engineering — it’s hard not to be in love with coding when your first experience comes from controlling a robot you’ve built!
2. There has never been more legislative support!
This has been a banner year for Computer Science legislation, and it shows no sign of stopping. The Computer Science Education Act has become the most widely supported education bill in the house, and the Computer Science Education and Jobs Act is showing similar support. Did you catch our post earlier this week about the new CS legislation in CA? Hopefully, soon every student in the country will have access to a great CS course they can take for graduation credit.
Speaking of programming robots, this week Tesla announced the Tesla Model D, which brings with it an awesome new feature — autopilot. The car will be able to perform certain functions autonomously, without the help of a human driver. Very cool, and also some VERY complicated programming!
Are you part of a robotics club that has built a cool robot? Does your school offer CS for credit? Let us know in the comments below or by tweeting to us @codehs!
That’s all for this week! Thanks for tuning in.
