March AP CSP Insider: Exam Deadlines, Webinars, and More!

⏰ Course Pacing: Where Students Should Be

At this point in the year, you should be around Unit 13: Data and Unit 14: Project: Present a Data-Driven Insight.
Unit 13: Data (1 week, 5 hours)
In this unit, students will explore using computational tools to store massive amounts of data, manipulate and visualize data, find patterns in data, and draw conclusions from data. Students will consider how the modern wealth of data collection has impacted society in positive and negative ways. Students will work in teams to investigate a question of personal interest and use public data to present a data-driven insight to their peers. They will develop visualizations to communicate their findings and embed their visualizations in their portfolio websites.

📅 Course Timeline: Wrapping Up AP CSP
Depending on when spring break falls on your school calendar, the content before the review units should be completed by mid-March or early April. Use the rest of April to complete the Create Performance Task and prepare for the AP Exam.
The official College Board deadline to submit the Create Performance Task is April 30, 2026.
To help avoid last-minute issues with submissions, questions, or technical problems, we recommend setting an earlier internal classroom deadline for your students. This gives you time to support students and ensure all work is submitted successfully before the official deadline.
If your classes are running behind, consider assigning some of the exercises from Unit 17: AP Exam Review for homework.
Here is our suggested timeline to wrap up the course:
March:
- Unit 13: Data
- Unit 14: Practice PT: Present a Data-Driven Insight
April:
- Unit 16: Create Performance Task
- April 30: Submit Create Performance Tasks (by 11:59 PM ET)
- Unit 17: AP Exam Review
May:
- May 14: 2026 AP Computer Science Principles Exam
- Unit 18: Creative Development
June:
- Unit 18: Creative Development (continued)
- Supplementary Units
👩🏽💻 Project of the Month: Hidden in Plain Sight

For Women’s History Month, complete our project highlighting Elizebeth Smith Friedman! In this project, students will explore how binary representations have been used for centuries to code secret messages while exploring the life of Friedman.
Elizebeth Smith Friedman was known as America’s first female cryptanalyst. Her long and distinguished career was highlighted as a code breaker in both World Wars, and she was a key resource for the Coast Guard during prohibition. In this activity, students will encode one of Elizebeth Smith Friedman’s hidden messages from her 1918 class photos.
