Day 45 // 5/20/2015 // Columbus → Indianapolis
Today we ran a workshop at Bunsold Middle School!
Today was Wednesday… which meant it was time for another coding workshop!
We visited Bunsold Middle School for a technology class. The students have been exposed to some coding with CodeHS, and today we got to continue farther. Most of the students were working on some of the Karel challenges, and a few students were working on games in Scratch.
The students had done a good job so far, and the technology teacher told us that more and more programming is becoming a prerequisite for other things that they want to teach.
He explained that they teach robotics, which requires the students to program using Robot-C, and they want to teach Arduino, which also requires students to program. He mentioned that programming is the hardest part, and it’s clear that giving the students a good foundation in programming is something that unlocks more creative teaching opportunities for students.
A fun visit and a fun workshop!
